Our Goals

  • Climate Advisory Team (CAT)

Creation of Climate Advisory Team (CAT) to address both resilience and recovery so we can both withstand and recover from future climate disasters.

  • Traditional Ecological Knowledge

Relearning and deepening of Traditional Ecological Knowledge practices (Tongvan/Kizh, Black, Nahuatl, Maya, Filipino, and other peoples) of using natural fire resistant building materials, native plants, trees, fungi and other organisms to remediate the land, air and water to be in harmony with our mountains and natural environment.

  • Right-to-know

Right to know what toxins we are being exposed to by rigorous third-party multi-methodology testing and monitoring of toxins in the air, land, and water that go beyond the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) narrow standards to include the multitude of post fire toxins that prematurely shorten our lifespans.

Our Values

  • Authenticity

We are real people with deep connections to a real place called Altadena. We also know that we do not represent the voices of all the people that seek refuge in our beloved community in the foothills and yet our aim is to inspire them to not accept what they are given but plant the seeds to day of the Altadena 20-years into the future.

  • Humility

We are guided by our ancestors, by the Land, plants and waters of this place. We understand that they have all the answers to solve the climate catastrophe that we are in. It is our job to listen and seek knowledge from our elders, human and non-human alike.

  • Responsibility

As a species, humans have taken far more than we have given to this planet called Earth. It is our responsibility in our lifetimes to be in reciprocal relationship with our environment.
