Evolve Altadena’s Purpose Is To Protect And Nurture The Soul And Culture Of Our Home In Partnership With Each Other And The Land Based On Ancestral Knowledge And Practice For Past, Present And Future Generations.
We believe in the Soul of Altadena
We are a community devastated by the Eaton fire. We lost homes, schools and businesses. We are homeowners and renters. We live with disabilities and are young and old. We are organizers, artists and farmers. We are healers, business owners and teachers. We are documented, undocumented. We are single-parent families, blended families, same-sex parent families. We believe in the Soul of Altadena and a future that is sustainable and honors native land stewardship practices, a future not driven by profit, neglect and discrimination.
Join us in building the future of Altadena.
Altadenan Thoughts on the Matter
Our Goals
-
Climate Advisory Team (CAT)
Creation of Climate Advisory Team (CAT) to address both resilience and recovery so we can both withstand and recover from future climate disasters.
-
Traditional Ecological Knowledge
Relearning and deepening of Traditional Ecological Knowledge practices (Tongvan/Kizh, Black, Nahuatl, Maya, Filipino, and other peoples) of using natural fire resistant building materials, native plants, trees, fungi and other organisms to remediate the land, air and water to be in harmony with our mountains and natural environment.
-
Right-to-know
Right to know what toxins we are being exposed to by rigorous third-party multi-methodology testing and monitoring of toxins in the air, land, and water that go beyond the Environmental Protection Agency’s (EPA) narrow standards to include the multitude of post fire toxins that prematurely shorten our lifespans.
